Mersey Tunnels Free Travel Concession

Due to the need to see original documents and evidence, concessionary applicants cannot apply via our website.

Applications for the above mentioned concessionary scheme will be considered from the following group of disabled people:

The criteria is listed on the application form which may be printed or downloaded.

Applications should be made by post, application forms may be obtained by calling 0151-236-8602 during office hours 8.30 a.m. - 4.45 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Personal applications can be made to Georges Dock Building between the hours of 9.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday. However, it should be noted that the concessionary Fast Tag will not be processed immediately but within 48 hours of receipt of the completed application

Conditions of Issue

  1. The Fast Tag can only be used by the concession holder whilst travelling in the vehicle specified on the application form.
  2. The Personal Identity Pass must be tendered at a staffed booth for every concessionary journey made.
  3. The Fast Tag is not valid for vehicles being used for the conveyance of passengers or goods for hire or reward.
  4. Notwithstanding eligibility for the concession, toll free passage will not be allowed if the concession holder is not in possession of both a concessionary Fast Tag and personal identity pass at the time of travel.
  5. Changes in circumstances regarding the type or registration number of the specified vehicle or any change in your entitlement to free travel must be notified to this office immediately on 0151-236-8602.
  6. Loss of your Fast Tag and/or personal identity pass must be reported to this office immediately on 0151-236-8602. A charge of £30 is made to invalidate the Fast Tag but this charge is refundable on recovery of the Fast Tag.
  7. The Fast Tag is not transferable and must be kept and used in accordance with these Conditions of Issue.
  8. Your Disabled Persons Badge must be available for inspection by the Toll Officers when you are using the Fast Tag for a concessionary journey.
  9. Any authorised Officer of the Mersey Tunnels has the right, upon production if necessary of his identity pass, to be satisfied that the Fast Tag in use has been issued to an eligible individual and that person is in the vehicle.
  10. Abuse of either the Conditions of Issue, or any member of staff involved in administering the scheme may lead to withdrawal of the concession.
